Meet Caitlyn Allchin

Assessing arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and its community structure within the habitat of the Lassics lupine, an endangered California serpentine-endemic

Caitlyn is working to aid in the management strategies to conserve one of the North Coast’s most enigmatic and endangered endemic plants, the Lassics lupine (Lupinus constancei, CRPR 1B.1). She is investigating the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) community structure within the Lassics lupine soils with the hope that her work will lead to new management techniques to improve and support the recovery of this endangered species. There has been minimal success so far in propagating the Lassics lupine but she hopes that her research will provide a means of improving future propagation efforts by identifying the fungal species most suitable for the inoculation of the planting soil.

Good luck Caitlyn, and we look forward to learning what you find out!
